endless thought provoking clarity
what's not to love? uninterrupted, virtually transparent clarity from fifty years ago. seriously it may get better than this but not by much. let go of
...
all inhibitions, and see the music take you away...it's easy, too. don't worry, either, because life will move on without us. long after we're gone...the music will be playing, into dark cosmos forever. stay grateful... * Nick

look for awhile at the China Cat Sunflower..
"a peaceful Sunday Night" I have often wondered if it was better to catch the Dead on a certain night of the week? My feeling is at least as far as a weekend
...
of shows-Sunday Night was the least pressure and demand. Whereas Friday & Saturday always seemed to bring out the curious and thrill seekers. Before the 1st set somebody yells "What are you waiting for". To which B.Graham gives us his great introduction-the long and the short of which is chill please. As hesitant as they had seemed the previous evening in the 1st set --the Band is in the flow right from the get go with B,E Women, BIODTL, Candyman building the intensity By the time they get to China Cat it is all in. And the Cat is about 10 minutes worth of jamming lovely with that Feeling groovy transition. A sweet fast paced Rider! A ghost song cowboy tune from Weir and a cautionary gambling tune from Jerry then 18 minutes of PITB closing set one.(The set closing PLAYING is one of the most consistent and yet musically diverse highlights of 73/74 era Set Two Rare Cumberland opener, The Roses! Big River-Always seemed to be in the thick of things Bertha,-Very nice--mid set Weather Report Suite Prelude > Weather Report Suite Part 1 > Let It Grow > Row Jimmy, Ship Of Fools, Wow---just wow--mellow but intense Promised Land-yeah! Dark Star > Morning Dew, --lots of Keith here. drifting into DEW with slight Spanish Jam--a soaring jam in the tail end of the DS>"Walk me out". Sugar Magnolia, I like the way Jerry always sang that first line along with Weir. Great vocals from DJG -- Not Fade > GDTRFB> NFA--tried but true Weir about busts a gasket with the yelps in the NFA reprise E: It's All Over Now Baby Blue-This is when Garcia had the voice for this song and they didn't play it 2 or 3 nights on a tour in the encore slot.. SEE YA at the COW Palace..
